Terms of Service

These terms cover the non-medical home care Meridian Home Care ("we," "us," "our") provides for people who need help at home, and their families, across the Phoenix metro and down to Tucson, and your use of this website. When you contact us about care, set up care with us, or use this site, you agree to them. If the care arrangement we agree on with you says something different from these terms, that arrangement controls for your care.

The Care We Provide

We provide non-medical home care. That means everyday help at home, such as personal care, companionship, meals, housekeeping, errands and rides, as described on our home care services page. We are not a home health agency, a hospice, a nursing home or an assisted living facility. Nothing on this website is an offer to provide care at a particular rate, on a particular schedule, or starting on a particular date. The arrangement we agree on with you is what describes your care.

How a Care Arrangement Is Set Up

The details of any care arrangement, including the schedule, the tasks and the rates, are agreed directly with Meridian Home Care before care starts. We talk with you about the help that's needed, when it's needed and how often, and we go over rates and payment terms with you before the first visit. If needs change, for example more hours, overnight help or more hands-on help, we talk it through with you and agree on any change before it takes effect.

Scheduling and Getting Into the Home

You can reach us by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When care can start, and which days and hours we can cover, depends on the help that's needed and on what's already scheduled. A start date or a time slot is never a promise until we've agreed on it with you. To give care, we need a way into the home: someone there to let us in, a key, a lockbox or gate code, or another arrangement you and we agree on. Tell us before the first visit about pets, alarms, stairs and anything else in the home we should know about. If we can't get in at a scheduled visit, we'll call you to sort it out.

What Our Caregivers Don't Do

Our caregivers help with everyday life at home. They don't do medical tasks or nursing care. They can remind someone when it's time to take a medication, and the medical side, including medications, treatment, therapy and nursing, stays with the person's doctors, nurses or hospice team. When we talk through care, please tell us about anything that affects how we can help safely, such as a fall risk, memory changes or a recent hospital stay, and let us know when things change. If a need comes up that's outside what we do, we'll tell you, so you can arrange the right help.

Your Home and Belongings

Our caregivers work in your home or your family member's home, and we treat it with care. If something is damaged or missing after a visit, tell us as soon as you can so we can look into it together. We are not responsible for wear, damage or conditions that were there before a visit, or for conditions we weren't told about. As with any visitor in the home, we suggest keeping cash, jewelry, important papers and other valuables put away.

General Information, Not Medical Advice

This website is general information about non-medical home care. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, a nurse or emergency services. Talk with a doctor or nurse about health questions, a diagnosis or a medication. In an emergency, call 911. Reading this site or sending us a message doesn't start care. Care starts only once we've agreed on an arrangement with you.

Using This Website

This website explains what we do and how to reach us. You can send us a message through the form on the contact page. The form has spam protection, so a message that looks like spam may be filtered out before it reaches us, and email can fail, so if you haven't heard back, call (602) 200-4819. Please don't use the form for anything urgent. Call us instead, and in an emergency, call 911. How we handle what you send is explained in our privacy policy.

We don't sell anything online: the site has no shopping cart, checkout or customer accounts. You agree not to try to break into, overload or interfere with this site, copy it in bulk with automated tools, or use it for anything unlawful. The text, photos and logo on this site belong to Meridian Home Care or are used with permission, and you may not republish them without our written permission.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent Arizona law allows, our liability for any claim arising out of our care or this website is limited to the amount you paid us for the care the claim relates to. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing takes away rights you have under Arizona consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

Governing Law and Arbitration

These terms and every agreement with us are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict of law rules.

If a dispute comes up, call us first. Most problems are fixed with a conversation. If we cannot resolve it that way, you and Meridian Home Care agree that the dispute will be settled by binding arbitration in Maricopa County, Arizona, before a single neutral arbitrator, rather than in court, and each of us gives up the right to a jury trial. Either party may instead bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies. The arbitrator's decision is final and may be entered as a judgment in any court with jurisdiction.

You and Meridian Home Care agree to bring claims only as individuals, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative action, and the arbitrator may not combine one person's claims with another's or preside over any form of class proceeding. If this class action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim will be decided in court and not in arbitration.

Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms by posting a new version on this page with a new "last updated" date. The terms that apply to your care are the ones in effect when the care was arranged, unless we agree on something different with you.
