Accessibility Statement
Meridian Home Care wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology. Many people who visit are arranging care for themselves or helping a loved one, and we keep that in mind. Someone checking the kinds of care we offer, or finding the phone number to talk through care for a family member, should get the same information whatever tools they use.
Our Accessibility Goal
We aim for this site to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. WCAG is published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and Level AA is the level most accessibility guidance points to. It is our target, not a claim that every page is perfect, and we keep working toward it as pages are added and changed. We build accessibility into the pages themselves. The site does not use an accessibility overlay or widget.
What the Site Does for Accessibility
- Text alternatives. Photos carry alternative text that says what the photo shows, in plain words. Purely decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Keyboard navigation. Links, menus, buttons and form fields can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, and the item that has focus is visibly outlined. A skip link at the top of each page jumps past the menu.
- Contrast. Text and controls are designed to meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios for normal and large text.
- Reduced motion. Motion is kept to a minimum, and when your device is set to reduce motion, the site turns off nonessential animation.
- Page structure. Each page has one main heading with clearly labeled sections beneath it, so screen reader users can jump from section to section.
- Phones and zoom. Pages are built to work at phone, tablet and desktop widths, and text can be enlarged without the page breaking.
- Tap to call. The phone number is a link, so on a phone you can tap it to call.
Known Limitations
No website gets everything right, and we would rather tell you where this one may fall short.
- Photo detail. Some photos show a lot at once, such as a room in a home or a street scene, and alternative text can only summarize them. If you need to know exactly what a photo shows, ask us and we can describe it.
- New pages. As we add pages and photos, a new page may have a problem we haven't caught yet. If you find one, please tell us.
When we find a barrier on our own pages, we fix it.
Report an Accessibility Barrier
If something on this site is hard to use with your assistive technology or your setup, call (602) 200-4819. It helps to tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, what happened, and the browser and assistive technology you use. We read every report, and we work to fix the barriers people tell us about.
Reaching Us Another Way
If the form on the contact page gives you trouble, skip it. Call (602) 200-4819 instead, any hour, and we'll take down who the care is for and your town and talk it through on the phone. You can read about the help we offer on the home care services page or check service areas to see whether we come out to you. If a different format works better for you, such as plain text in an email or going through the details by phone, tell us and we will do our best to provide it.
