Home Care in Fountain Hills, AZ

In Fountain Hills, home care means a caregiver who comes to your loved one's house and helps with the day. Think of a safe shower, a good lunch, a calm afternoon and a ride to the store. Our help is non-medical, and Fountain Hills is one of the towns we come out to.

Two in Five Fountain Hills Residents Are 65 or Older

About 23,600 people live in Fountain Hills, and the Census counts 40.7% of them as 65 or older. Roughly 84% of homes are lived in by their owners. The town was formally established in December 1970 and incorporated in 1989. Its fountain, under ideal conditions, sends water up to 560 feet for about fifteen minutes at the top of each hour.

Owning the house usually means wanting to stay in it. Home care is one way to make that work. Help comes to the person who needs it, and the house, the view and the neighbors stay the same.

Dementia Friendly Fountain Hills and Its Memory Café

The town says Fountain Hills was the 10th community in Arizona to receive the Dementia Friendly America designation. One piece of that work is the Memory Café at the Community Center on North La Montana Drive. It meets in person on the second Thursday of the month. Coffee and pastries start at 9:30 a.m. From 10 to 11, caregivers join an education or support session. Meanwhile, people with memory loss take part in a program that keeps the mind engaged.

That's one morning a month, and the other days still need a plan. Dementia home care brings a caregiver to the house to keep routines steady and help with bathing. In the late afternoon, they keep an eye on the doors. When the family member doing the caregiving needs a few hours for their own doctor's visit, or just some sleep, respite care gives them that time.

Planning Home Care Visits Out to Fountain Hills

At Meridian Home Care, we plan Fountain Hills visits on a schedule set ahead with your family. Visits might be a few mornings a week or every evening, depending on what the person at home needs. We talk through the routine before the first one. We also come out to neighboring Scottsdale, to Phoenix and to Mesa. The full list of towns is on our service areas page, and every kind of help we offer is on our home care services page.

Meals, Rides and the Community Center in Fountain Hills

The town runs a Home Delivered Meals program. Noon meals are cooked at Fountain View Village and brought to the door by volunteers, seven days a week, holidays included. The town lists the price at $6.50 a meal, and clients must be Fountain Hills residents.

For rides, the town's Give A Lift program uses volunteer drivers. The town's web page says it's for medical appointments. An older town guide also lists pharmacy and grocery trips, so check with the town first. Valley Metro RideChoice serves residents 65 and older and people who qualify for ADA paratransit. It's $3 a trip for the first 8 miles and $2 for each mile after that.

The Community Center keeps long weekday hours, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 4 on Friday. Its programs include exercise and health classes, discussion groups and support groups.

A delivered lunch takes care of noon. Breakfast, supper, the grocery list and the laundry still need doing, and that's what our home help for seniors covers. For a trip to the pharmacy or a class at the Community Center, a caregiver can drive and walk in with your family member. That's part of companion care.

Fountain Hills Emergency Care and the Days After

Fountain Hills has a freestanding emergency room on North Saguaro Boulevard. It's open around the clock, with CT, X-ray and lab work, plus a separate clinic. It's set up as an emergency room, not a hospital for longer stays. HonorHealth also has an urgent care on East Palisades Boulevard, open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Say your loved one takes a fall, gets checked at the ER and comes home that night. The next few days still need someone there. So does the week after a hospital stay. A caregiver can help them from the bed to the chair, steady them through a shower and get meals on the table. The caregiver can also drive them to follow-up visits. The medical side stays with their doctors. Our post-hospital care and personal care pages explain that help in more detail.

Is Fountain Hills too far for regular visits?

No. We set Fountain Hills visits ahead with each family. Once the schedule is set, a caregiver comes on the days and hours you've chosen.

Someone in my family goes to the Memory Café. What about the rest of the month?

That's where dementia home care fits. A caregiver can come for the hours they need, keep their routine steady and give you time for yourself.
