Home Care From the Phoenix Metro to Tucson

Home care near you starts with a simple question: can a caregiver get to the house? Meridian Home Care sends caregivers to homes in Gilbert, across the Phoenix metro, into Pinal County and down to Tucson. Every town we serve is listed further down this page, grouped by county.

The help is the same wherever the house is. It can mean a shower with the grab bar and shower chair, or lunch at the kitchen table. It can be a ride to the doctor, or someone there overnight. You'll find all of it on our home care services page.

Finding Home Care Near You in a Big Metro

The Valley is a big place, and distance shapes how we plan. We're in Mesa, Chandler and the rest of the East Valley regularly, and in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley too, so short visits and split shifts are simple to set up there.

We also come out to Phoenix, the West Valley and the towns up north. For a family in Sun City or farther west, we set schedules ahead. The visit days and start times are settled with you before care begins.

When you're looking for in-home caregivers near you, it helps to tell us early about the days that matter most. That might be a standing doctor's appointment, a weekly hair appointment, or the night the person who usually helps works late. Long drives across the metro are part of life here. In summer heat over 110 degrees, a visit that's planned ahead is one that's less likely to slip.

Maricopa County Resources Worth Keeping Handy

A couple of public resources are good to know about if the person you care for lives in Maricopa County. Neither one is connected to Meridian Home Care. They're simply useful to have on hand.

The Area Agency on Aging, Region One is a private nonprofit that plans, funds and coordinates programs across the county. It serves adults 60 and older and the family members who care for them, along with some younger adults with disabilities. Its 24-hour Senior HELP LINE is the front door to those programs. Staff talk through what the caller needs and check eligibility. Then they start intake or point the caller to another resource. The agency's in-home services include home delivered meals, personal care and homemaking for people who qualify. Its contact details are at aaaphx.org.

Summer brings the other one. The Heat Relief Network started in 2005. It brings government offices, nonprofits, faith groups and businesses together to open cooled spaces to the public. The county's public health department and the Maricopa Association of Governments launch it each season, and it typically runs May through September. If your loved one lives alone, a caregiver's afternoon visit in July helps. The blinds get drawn, the AC gets checked and there's a full glass of water by their chair.

More Communities We Visit Too

Some of the places we serve don't have a page of their own, so we cover them right here.

Youngtown calls itself a former retirement community. It became a town in 1960, and the Census Bureau still counts about 18% of residents at 65 or older. We come out there too.

Census figures put close to one in four Anthem-area residents at 65 or older, and a little over one in five in New River.

Carefree and Cave Creek are both recognized as Dementia Friendly communities through the Dementia Friendly America network. Foothills Caring Corps runs a Memory Cafe and other programs in both towns. For someone living with memory loss there, our dementia home care adds calm, familiar help inside the house.

Citrus Park is small, with about 5,200 people at the 2020 Census, and about one in five of them is 65 or older.

Out in the West Valley near Goodyear, we visit a few more cities. In Avondale, the nonprofit Mercy Housing owns 41 units of low-income senior housing next to a city park, and the property doubles as a food distribution site for the neighborhood. Tolleson has its own senior center at the city's Civic Center, with exercise classes, outings and daily meals for people 60 and older. Litchfield Park runs a residential lock box program with the Goodyear Fire Department, so first responders can reach a key when the person inside can't get to the door. Like the rest of the West Valley, these visits go on the calendar well before care starts.

Globe sits in Gila County, where a third of residents are 65 or older. That's the highest share of the four counties we serve. The city has the Globe Active Adult Center and Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center. Globe is a long drive out, so we plan visits there well ahead.

Gila County shares its Area Agency on Aging with Pinal County. The Pinal County towns we visit have a page of their own: home care in Pinal County.

Farther down I-10, Tucson and the communities around it, from Oro Valley and Marana to Green Valley and Sahuarita, are covered on our page for home care in Tucson. Like Globe, those visits are planned well ahead.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if you offer home care near me?

Find your town in the list on this page. If you're not sure, call and ask. We'll let you know whether we can come out and how we'd plan the schedule.

Is care any different in the West Valley than in the East Valley?

The help itself is the same. What changes is the planning. For longer drives, we set schedules ahead so the days and times are settled before care starts.

Can you help a family member who lives across the Valley from me?

Yes. You can live in Gilbert while they live in Sun City, or you can live in another state. We coordinate with you by phone and keep the family informed.

Can I reach you at night or on a weekend?

Yes. We're reachable 24/7, so a call after a late hospital discharge or a hard night is fine.
