Personal Care at Home

Personal care is the hands-on help: a shower on the shower chair, getting dressed, help in the bathroom and changing briefs. A caregiver offers a steady arm from the bed to the walker and reminds about medications through the day. Our personal care page covers bathing, transfers and safety in more detail.

Companion Care and Errands

Some days the biggest need is good company and a ride. A companion shares coffee and a card game, drives to the doctor's appointment or the pharmacy, and brings home the groceries. Feeding the dog and watering the patio plants before the afternoon heat are part of companion care too.

Respite Care While You Take a Break

Family caregivers need rest too. We cover an afternoon, a weekend or longer so you can sleep, see your own doctor or get away for a bit. Learn how respite care works.

Overnight, 24-Hour and Live-In Care

Nights can be the hardest part of caring for someone at home. An overnight caregiver is there for trips to the bathroom at 3 a.m., a glass of water, and a calm voice when sleep won't come. When one shift isn't enough, we set up round-the-clock or live-in care.

Dementia Care With Calm Routines

Memory loss tends to go easier with a steady rhythm to the day. Our caregivers keep routines familiar, redirect gently when things get confusing, and help make the house safer with night lights and clear paths. Read more about memory care at home.

Comfort Support Alongside Hospice

When a hospice team is caring for someone at home, we add the everyday hands around them. A caregiver helps with bathing, meals, fresh sheets and quiet company, so the family can sleep or simply sit together. Here's how our hospice and comfort support works.

Recovery Help After a Hospital Stay

The first days home after a hospital stay or surgery can be shaky. We help with getting up and moving, a shower, simple meals and rides to the follow-up visit. Our post-hospital care page explains what that help looks like.

Daily Support for Chronic Conditions

Parkinson's, diabetes, arthritis and the after-effects of a stroke can turn an ordinary day into a lot of work. A caregiver takes on the tiring parts, like getting dressed, cooking to the diet the doctor set, and short walks around the house. Find out more about chronic condition support.

Care Coordination and Family Communication

Behind all of these caregiver services is a schedule someone has to keep straight. There are visits to cover, doctor's appointments to work around, and a pharmacy pickup on Thursday. We handle that planning and fit care around the rest of the week.

We also keep the family informed. When needs shift or something about your loved one's day seems different, we let the right people know. Then we talk through what to change. Family across town and family three states away can both know what's going on at home.

What We Handle and What Stays With Your Doctors

Meridian Home Care provides non-medical care: the everyday help with bathing, meals, company, errands and getting around. We remind about medications, but we don't hand them out or manage them. Shots, wound dressings, therapy exercises and anything else a doctor orders stay with your doctors, nurses or hospice team. Our caregivers fill the hours around that care, and the two work well side by side.

What Shapes the Cost of Home Care Services

The cost of care comes down to how much help, and when. Hours matter most, since a few visits a week and daily shifts add up very differently. Overnight care and live-in care change the cost too. So does how much hands-on help the person needs, like help in the bathroom or getting in and out of bed.

We go over cost and payment on the call, before any care begins, so you can plan. There's also 10% off for active and retired military, first responders and teachers.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we mix more than one kind of care?

Yes. A morning visit might cover a shower and breakfast, and an afternoon might be errands and company. A few nights a week could be overnight care. We put it all into one schedule so nobody has to juggle it.

How do I know which kind of help my loved one needs?

You don't need to sort that out before calling. Tell us about their day: when they're steady, when they struggle, and what's slipping around the house. We'll suggest a starting point and adjust as we learn more.

Do you come out to my town?

We care for families in Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler and Queen Creek. We also come out to Scottsdale, Phoenix, the West Valley and Pinal County, and we set those schedules ahead. The full list is on our service areas page.

What if the person who needs care only wants help with one thing?

Then we start with that one thing. Plenty of people turn down home care assistance in the shower but say yes to a ride to the store or help with the laundry. Once they're used to having someone around, the help can grow at their pace.
